Well folks I wanted to post on my blog before I head to Hattiesburg. I have so much on my plate at the moment but that is a very good thing because that means there is some moving and shaking as far as good deeds is concerned. I am still in the process of aiding in the development of the powwow and I dare say I have never been prouder of the team that we have now. Around March 12th I will be traveling to Louisiana to aid in the re construction of the community center for the United Houma Nation. It is sad that our own government and BP will not aid in the reconstruction of the Houma lands. They are hoping the Houmas will move off their lands but I do not see that happening. They are strong people and I pray that they will endure this after affects of the BP oil spill. The letter I was publishing for a Hispanic column was considered negative and so I have having to make a “feel good letter” but I do not like it because I do not get to speak about what I have witnessed currently within the community. I love Hattiesburg because that is where my friends are and most of the volunteer work I do is in Hattiesburg. There is nothing in my hometown that really needs my attention and when you get told in wall mart that “you need to stop helping those wetbacks” I feel it’s time that I pack my bags and get out. Some friends are telling me what others say behind my back and it has been real hurtful. You know the sad thing is that people of other nations and cultures have been more accepting of me than my own people. So before you say something about me please know that it will come back to me sooner or later. I also can’t wait to see Sacred Heart Church because there is a beautiful statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe and I usually bring her Roses when I can. I have been walking five miles a day. I have lost some weight but there is MORE work to be done. I did not take care of my body for a couple of years so it is going to take me a “hot minute” before I get things back where they should be. All in all I have nothing to complain about because I have been blessed with loving griends and family. I wish all of you the best and know that you are loved. Ty
